Mews House, Knightsbridge

The refurbishment of this Mews Property in Knightsbridge included the excavation of a basement and the conversion of one garage into habitable space, in order to add 1000ft² of floor area to the existing footprint.

The brief was to reconfigure the spaces and update the internal finishes creating a point of interest for the commercial rental market.

The existing garage was converted into an open plan kitchen and dining room with one wall being taken out and replaced by a glazed screen, opening up the otherwise narrow hallway and staircase spaces.

The conversion of the mansard roof to eliminate steep pitches has given the habitable spaces on the top floor a more luxurious and practical arrangement. The building had been refurbished in the early 1990’s and was a mix of styles internally.  The new finishes palette was kept neutral and robust with contrasting luxury materials in key areas. The feature staircase is industrial in design and finish but open and light in structure. Our appointment included all phases of the project from planning approval to handover including furniture selection.
